UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN RANKED AMONG THE BEST IN THE WORLD BY TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKING 2020

Times Higher Education (THE) has just released its World University Rankings 2020 this evening at the THE World Academic Summit holding at Zurich, Switzerland. The University of Ibadan was ranked in the 501-600 category. This is our best showing since THE World University Rankings started in 2004. We are delighted with the improvement in our ranking. We thank the Federal Government of Nigeria, our proprietors, on behalf of the Nigerian people, for the usual support. Our exceptionally talented Faculty, staff and students are acknowledged for their steadfastness. Our alumni, friends and supporters have contributed in no small measures towards our modest achievements. The Governing Council and Senate are thanked for providing a supportive environment for the premier university to thrive. The Vice-President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, SAN, recently commissioned a 2.8 mega watts installed capacity solar hybrid power project, under the Federal Government’s Energising Education Programme (EEP), at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, (FUNAI), Ebonyi State. Speaking at the commissioning, the Vice-President said the EEP  was a project aimed to provide  conducive learning environment in Nigeria universities in the next four years adding that the project would provide sustainable decentralised energy to the entire campus, improve education and create a better university experience for both staff and students. He explained that the project would serve 7,700 students and 1,819 staff at FUNAI and help them access clean reliable energy from the University’s 2.8MW Solar hybrid power plant as well as improved quality of Research work in the University. ABU Business School —— FG Spends N1.3trn on Education in 4 years

The Federal Government invested about N1.3 trillion so far towards the development of the country’s education sector in the past four years excluding funds spent on overhead and personnel costs, President Muhammadu Buhari said in Zaria last Thursday. Speaking while commissioning the multi-billion Naira Ahmadu Bello University Business School built by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the president commended CBN for the gesture. Africa’s Largest Off-Grid Solar Power Plant in BUK commissioned by Osibanjo.

The Federal Government has commissioned the largest off-grid solar hybrid power plant in   Bayero University, Kano under the Energising Education Programme (EEP), aimed at providing sustainable decentralized energy to the nation’s university  campuses. The Vice-President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, SAN, who   commissioned the project said it was the second in the series after a similar one at Alex Ekwueme University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State. He said the energise education programme of the government was a project aimed towards providing a conducive learning environment in Nigeria universities in the next four years.   Professor Osinbajo said that as a result, 55,815 students and 3,077 staff of BUK now have access to electricity supply from the university’s 7.1 mega watts solar hybrid power plant. ABIA SCHOLARSHIP BOARD RELEASES MODALITIES FOR INITIAL OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP

The newly inaugurated Abia State Scholarship Board has invited applications from interested and qualified candidates, especially students and civil servants of Abia State origin for undergraduate and postgraduate schorlarship programmes in Australia. The Board Chairman, Ambassador Empire Kanu disclosed this during the  maiden press briefing of the Board.He   said that the scholarship is for those who intend to study at the University of Newcastle and the University of New England, Australia. The Board informed that details of the information on how to apply would be found on www.abiastatescholarshipboard.org and streessed the need for candidates to apply quickly as those for the first enrollment would leave for Australia by January next year. Ambassador Kanu who revealed that the Abia State government is subsidising the  scholarship programmes for each of the candidates to the tune of 50 percent while the Universities bear the remaining percentage, state...

The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Departmental Cut-off Marks for 2019/2020 Merit Admission is out.

It is important to note that these cutoff marks apply to only those who crossed their departmental Post UTME cutoff marks and at the same time are without wrong JAMB subject combinations. Post UTME cutoff marks are 50% for courses whose JAMB cutoff is 200, 45% for 180 and 40% for 160. Candidates should endeavour to upload their O’level results to CAPS, failure of which can deny one admission even when selected by the University.
